Welcome back to Yozakura Family Sunday guys. Episode 5 is a great episode isn’t it?
General Plot
Yozakura Family episode 5 is adapting manga chapter 9, manga chapter 12, and manga chapter 14.
First part of the anime is adapting manga chapter 9 in which Taiyo first interact with Detective Hotokeyama.
Kyoichiro and Hotokeyama being ex-classmate
Second part of the anime is adapting manga chapter 12 in which Kyoichiro trains Taiyo to control his sleeping habit (well it is more or less Kyoichiro teasing Taiyo). Overall this part is almost panel to panel adaptation of the manga (except maybe some character cameo).
Taiyo sleep-waking
The third part or the final part of episode 5 is adapting manga chapter 14. The chapter is more or less Taiyo and Mutsumi dating. Is it cute? You bet it is. However, there is some difference with the manga and let’s talk about that.
Taiyo gives flower to Mutsumi
Aditional and Changed Scene
The pacing is almost the same like episode 4, that is why there is not that much additional and changed scene. I will just skip to the scene that has a glaring difference.
Detective Hotokeyama Scene
In the manga, Detective Hotokeyama was coming into Taiyo’s school to bring him into interrogation. This is different with the anime in which Detective Hotokeyama suddenly coming in front of Taiyo in the middle of nowhere.

Mutsumi and Taiyo Date
Now this one is almost the same but VERY different. The implication it brings is very different.
In the anime when Taiyo gives Mutsumi a flower, you can see that they are holding hands at the end credit scene. It is very obvious you can see it yourself.
Mutsumi and Taiyo holding hand in the anime
Now in the manga it is different in which after Taiyo gives Mutsumi the flower, you can see both was BLUSHING and definitely NOT holding hand. I don’t know why Silver-Link decide to change that cute moment, but the implication of this being that Taiyo and Mutsumi relationship progress faster in the manga.
Mutsumi and Taiyo shy at each other in the manga.
Faster Pacing & Random Episode Adaptation
If anything that this episode confirm is that Silver-Link is gonna restructure the adaptation order for the manga chapter.
I must also add that Silver-Link seems to be going with three manga adaptation for these two episode, which is a good thing.
I Have high hope that Silver-Link gonna adapt Tanpopo Arc as soon as possible because that is where all the fun and hype begin.
Conclusion
With a fast pace like episode 4, i think episode 5 of Yozakura Family does a very good job at fastening the progress to later arc.
However, i don’t agree with one particular scene which is Mutsumi and Taiyo date scene as i have elaborate.
Overall i give it 4,5/5 since it is still a good episode with solid pacing.
